The 2019 ADR Conference of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) themed “ICMC at 20: A trajectory of Mediation Practice and Grassroots Conflict Transformation in Nigeria”, is scheduled to hold Tuesday, December 3, 2019 in Abuja.
Dr. Chukwuemeka B. Eze, the Executive Director of the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), will be moderating the panel session on the theme.
Chukwuemeka B. Eze is the Executive Director of West Africa Network for Peacebuilding – the largest peacebuilding network in Africa. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Peace and Strategic Studies with bias in Conflict Early Warning Systems. He has 20 years of professional experience in Africa peace and security sector, including 18 years on the continental level; Leading the West African Team that provides data into the African Union Continental Early Warning System (African Reporter), providing oversight for the conflict early warning analysis provided to ECOWAS and AU on issues in West and Central Africa and leading the West Africa Peacebuilding Institute that provides training in dialogue, mediation, early warning and peacebuilding program design to officials of AU, ECOWAS and CSO actors.
He contributed to the development of AU mediation manual and supports AU and ECOWAS track I mediation especially in electoral disputes as well as supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of Panwise-FewWise plan of action in West Africa. Between 2016 and 2017, he served as Senior Adviser on Mediation and Political Dialogue to the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Guinea Bissau and led the development of the Early Warning System of the Government of South Sudan in 2009. Eze is a life member of the Governing Council, pioneer Deputy Registrar and Fellow of Institute for Chartered Mediators and Conciliators, Fellow and member of the Board of Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP), and Fellow of the Danish Fellowship program in Copenhagen Denmark.
He teaches peacebuilding practice at the Institute for Peace, Conflict and Development Studies of ESUT, Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg Germany, University of Utah in USA, Kofi Anna International Peacekeeping Training Centre and West Africa Peacebuilding Institute and has serval journals, articles and books to his credit.
