I was delighted knowing I was going to be part of the 153rd Mediation Skills Accreditation and Certification Training of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) in Benin, I was particularly delighted because it was an opportunity to become a professional Mediator being that I had done a course at the university on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).

Attending the training has impacted significantly on my way of thinking; now I view life and my interactions with people from a new perspective. My approach towards responding to people’s views and issues has changed for the better, I have learned to listen not just to what people are saying but how they are saying it. I have learned to put myself in the position of others to feel how they must be feeling in different circumstances. In my interactions with people, I have learned to be calm and not act solely on perceptions, and I have also learned to compliment people more, and be more patient and show empathy when situations arise.

I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to attend this training, I met and interacted with people of great minds, it was terrific knowing them all and not forgetting the intelligent, remarkable and indefatigable ICMC Faculty. I thank you all and feel so honored to know you all.

Thank you.
