On the 12th of March, 2025, the Executive members of National Association of Nigerian Students (NAUS) paid a courtesy visit to the ICMC President, Godwin Omoaka, SAN at the ICMC Mediation House.
The NAUS delegation was led by Comr. John Paul, Deputy Senate President; Comr. Josiah E. Victoria, Director of Gender; Comr. Kolawole Mayowa Sodiq, Deputy President; and Comr. Ogwuche Joel Matthias, National Liaison Officer. They were warmly received by the President of ICMC, ably represented by Babatunde Oyefeso, the Registrar of the Institute. Also present were staff of the ICMC Secretariat: Mrs. Irene Corson, Head of Finance and Administration; Joshua Adepetu, Head of Communications, Membership, and Marketing; Chisom Udennaka, Examinations Officer; and Agnes Umontia John, Assistant Administrative Officer.
The visit was a significant milestone, highlighting the mutual respect and shared commitment to advancing peace and cooperation in Nigeria. During the visit, the President of ICMC emphasized the critical role of Alternative Dispute resolution (ADR), particularly the role mediation continues to play in promoting peace and sustaining harmonious relationships.
Comr. Ogwuche Joel Matthias acknowledged the impact of ICMC in peace building in Nigeria and beyond. He affirmed the association’s eagerness to collaborate with ICMC in providing high quality Mediation training to members of the association in tertiary institutions across the country. This partnership aims to mainstream the practice of mediation, foster conflict resolution, and promote national development amongst the youth in Nigeria.
A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of the Award of Excellence to the President of the Institute, Godwin Omoaka, SAN by Comr. Kolawole Mayowa Sodiq on behalf of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NAUS). In exchange, ICMC presented complimentary gifts to the NAUS delegation, symbolizing mutual respect and a shared commitment to advancing peace and cooperation in Nigeria.
The courtesy visit ended with group photographs, capturing the spirit of partnership and shared vision between both organizations.
