Happy New Year!

On behalf of the Governing Council and leadership of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), I extend my warmest greetings to you and your families as we welcome 2025. May this year bring you peace, prosperity, and remarkable progress in all your endeavors.

As we reflect on the past year, we celebrate our shared achievements and milestones. Notably, we commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Institute, a testament to our enduring commitment to promoting the values of mediation and conciliation over a quarter of a century. This significant milestone was made possible through the hard work and dedication of each and every member of ICMC.

Additionally, the successful launch of the ICMC Mediation House in 2024 marked a new era for dispute resolution training and services in our community. This physical hub for our members and the public at large symbolizes our continued efforts to meet the evolving needs of society.

With these accomplishments as our foundation, we eagerly anticipate the opportunities that 2025 brings. Our focus this year will be on launching innovative initiatives that address emerging challenges through strategic partnerships, providing the public and our members with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in a rapidly changing world through training and capacity development in ADR, and expanding our reach through partnerships and advocacy which would provide us with global visibility.

I urge each and every member, new and old to seize this year as an opportunity for growth, both personally and professionally, utilizing the resources and support offered by ICMC. By staying true to our core values of integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to peace, we will continue to make a positive impact on society.

One way to grow professionally is to network within the ICMC community in your locations. Members of the Institute are encouraged to register with ICMC branches spread across the country. We have branches in the following locations; Abuja, Lagos, Asaba, Port Harcourt, Jos, Minna, Akure, Benin, Ibadan, Uyo, Kano, Kaduna, Enugu, Abakaliki, Calabar, Awka and Ekiti.

Members domiciled in these locations are encouraged to register with the branches, and participate actively in the branch activities. By attending branch meetings, members are afforded the opportunity to network, learn new trends in the practice of mediation, and take advantage of opportunities to interact with various dispute resolution practitioners, which can benefit members in their practice of Mediation and Conciliation.

As we embark on this journey together, I am confident that our collective vision and collaborative efforts will bring about trans-formative change for ICMC, our members, and the communities we serve.

Thank you for your dedication, trust, and contributions to the Institute. I wish you all a prosperous and fulfilling 2025!

Warm regards,

Godwin Omoaka, SAN, FICMC, FCIArb

President
